As preparation for this year’s competition continues, the new parts of the SubjuGator are coming together. Today here is a picture of the power merge board with a comment from our Electrical Lead, Matthew Griessler:
“The submarine is powered by three battery modules, each battery module is composed of two six cell Li-Po batteries in series providing 44.4V to the submarine. The power merge board provides hot swapping capability for these battery modules. It allows us to turn on and off power to the entire submarine. The power management board also has safety features, it protects against inrush current and low battery voltage. From the power merge board power flows to the thrusters and to the smart 24V regulator board.” – Matthew Griessler
